Course on Tabletop Role-Playing Games typically at the Intermediate 200-299 level.

This course will cover:

  • Definition of a PUG and contract to a regular public group and regular private groups.

  • Will use mostly D&D 5e for examples, but also other systems where their tools are useful, especially science fiction and other non-fantasy settings, to allow for multi-genre adventures.

  • Definition of a one-short game, and how it compares to short adventures, and long-running campaigns.

  • Outlining a one-shot adventure.

  • Tools for randomly generating adventure components.

  • Generating a one-shot adventure.

  • Advanced preparation for a one-shot adventure.

  • Whipping up a one-shot adventure last minute, on the fly.

  • Assessment of game success and considerations for revision.


Creating a tabletop RPG adventure that will span several sessions.

Creating a tabletop RPG lengthy campaign series of adventures.

This program provides level 2 training as a Game Master of Tabletop Role-Playing Games for general gaming settings. This course provides overview information on multiple game systems.

  • Background refresher and RPG advocacy (30 minutes).
  • More in depth examples of game styles, and various approaches for creating and GMing adventure scenarios.
  • Multiple game systems covered, including: Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, The One Ring Role-Playing Game, Star Wars RPG, Call of Cthulhu RPG, and others.
  • Iterative hands-on interactive guidance running a group of 1 or more players through one or more various pre-generated "standard" adventure scenarios.
  • Iterative processing about participants performance.
  • Coaching creation of World Creation.
  • Coaching creation of Campaign Outline.
  • Coaching creation of short module based on above.
  • Short play through with 1 or more players of created modules by participants.
  • Iterative processing about all topics covered.
  • Training Certification test.

 

Note: Training can be delivered either as one day-long (8 hour) session, or 2 half-day (4 hour) sessions. All training must take place within a contiguous 2 week period.
